Personal Names

Contents

The person index records all individuals with distinguished intellectual or artistic contributions to the contents (e.g. author, addendor, editor, translator, wood-engraver) and individuals involved in the process of printing and distribution (printer and publisher), as well as their different roles.

Processing Status

For the work catalogues beginning with the letters ‘N’–‘Z’ some names have not yet been systematically structured — for example addendors and translators — and could therefore still be missing from the index. These can however be found with the Advanced Search.

Sorting and Grouping

The index is sorted alphabetically; texts are transcribed according to the ‘Prussian Instructions’ for this purpose.
The information is grouped into two categories: the first category displays the names, the second their roles.
Sorting of names:
  • First sort criterion: bold type entry word
  • Other sort criteria: spaced entry words
